Taylor Swift rules the world: she is still the best-selling artist of 2022
The chart of the IFPI, the world record industry federation, is led again in 2022 by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. She is the artist who has sold more and streamed more than anyone else in the past calendar year.
For Taylor Swift, this is her third time at the top of the IFPI chart, following successes in 2014 and 2019. Furthermore, in all these years she has almost always remained at the top of the chart, despite not winning, such as in 2021 when she came second, in addition to many other Top-10 appearances.
Joining her on the podium is the South Korean boy band BTS.

Taylor Swift is the Global Recording Artist of 2022
The American singer-songwriter is once again confirmed as the queen of the global discography, winning the Global Recording Artist of 2022. The IFPI, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, covers the entire body of work and is calculated based on the worldwide performance during the year in digital and physical music formats, from streams to vinyl.
Taylor Swift's third career award
The 1989 Pennsylvania-born singer, despite her relatively young age, is on her third hit in this special music chart. In fact, she is already the best-selling artist in 2014 and 2019, coming second behind BTS in 2021 and remaining in the Top-10 in 2015, 2017 and 2020.
Lots of other successes for Taylor Swift
Swift has already collected many awards during her career, making her one of the most awarded singers ever. For example, in 2019 she was named 'Artist of the Decade' by the American Music Awards. And again, in 2019 she was proclaimed the eighth most successful singer of all time on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts. And finally, on 31 October 2022, she officially became the first artist in history to occupy the entire top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
BTS second in the best-selling list in 2022
RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, members of BTS, a Korean boy band, takes second place on the IFPI chart. This is their third consecutive year in the Top-3, following wins in 2020 and 2021.
The legend Drake in third place
The podium is closed by rapper Drake, in his fifth appearance in the IFPI Top-3, having also won the award in 2018. Drake holds several records on the Billboard charts: he holds the record for the most songs by a solo artist that have appeared on the chart (154), the most songs on the Billboard Hot 100 in one week (24), the longest time on the chart with at least one song (431 weeks) and the most songs debuted on the Hot 100 in one week (21)
Rankings
21/09/2023
The well-known US magazine Rolling Stone in 2021 has updated the list of the 500 most beautiful songs of all time.
The ranking was first published on December 11, 2003 and was compiled by a jury chosen by the editorial staff, composed of 172 musicians, music critics and experts in the recording industry. Subsequently, the ranking was changed twice: the first in 2010, the second in 2021, when 254 songs that were previously not present were added.
Obviously, there is nothing more subjective than music: these songs are considered the best according to the criteria defined by Rolling Stonemagazine, but each of us has his own personal ranking of the best songs ever. Here, however, is the Top 20 of Rolling Stone.

In 2008, 'Rolling Stone' compiled a list of the 100 best singers of all time.
This ranking was compiled 15 years ago by 180 people, including several musicians (e.g. Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Justin Timberlake, George Michael, Keith Richards), journalists and music experts.
On 1 January 2023, however, 'Rolling Stone' published an update of the ranking that revolutionised the list, especially with regard to the Top Ten. As the well-known US magazine was keen to point out, this ranking does not only take into account technical and vocal abilities (it is not a list of the best voices of all time), but also the originality of the vocal timbre, the record catalogue, the writing ability and the musical legacy of the singers in question. Here are the top 20 positions.
