From Elvis to Blink-182: Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian tell their wedding songs

In the spring of 2022, Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian said 'yes' for the third time in Portofino, Italy, as anticipated after their civil wedding in Santa Barbara. The wedding took place during a weekend of grand celebrations attended by all family members, including the couple's children from previous marriages.

Almost a year later, thanks to private footage taken by guests, a documentary was made about the ceremony, 'Til Death Do Us Part: Kourtney and Travis', for which some special songs were chosen as the soundtrack, to accompany the most beautiful moments.

The couple explained, during a telephone interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the meaning and reasons for the choice of each of these songs.

“First Day of My Life”, Bright Eyes
In the upcoming documentary about their wedding, 'Til Death Do Us Part: Kourtney and Travis', made from personal videos of guests, this song is used as the soundtrack for the wedding preparations in Portofino. Kardashian admits that she had not known this song before, but loved it when Travis played it for her. "It reminds me a lot of him (Travis, ed). Every time I watch that scene or hear the song, I get emotional," the bride's words.

“At Last”, Etta James
Kardahian says that Travis Barker wanted an official first dance, even though she was against it. Other songs could have fit, even featured in this playlist, but Kourtney says she is very happy with this choice, with this song, which, in the video, will accompany their first dance in Portofino.

“Can’t Help Falling in Love”, Elvis Presley
This Elvis masterpiece was sung both at the wedding in Las Vegas, directly by one of the King's look-alikes hired by Barker (the 'live' could not be used in the documentary for copyright reasons), and was also sung by Bocelli in his surprise performance in Portofino. "Our first wedding and our last wedding had it," says the bride.

“Love in Portofino”, Andrea Bocelli
Just like at her sister Kim Kardashian's wedding to rapper Kanye West, Bocelli gave a surprise performance at the Kardashina-Barker wedding. "It was simply legendary," says Barker about the uninvited guest. "He was really special to us," Kardashian adds. "He performed with his son, and that was really nice, too."

“Wish You Were Here”, Pink Floyd
This is one of the songs through which they fell in love. After a night of fun, together in bed, Barker played her this song, one of her all-time favourites. "It was one of those moments when you stare at someone and realise you're falling in love with that person," the drummer tells Rolling Stone. "I've been listening to that song since I was very, very young, and I love that it's something I fell in love with her."

“Everlong (Acoustic Version)”, Foo Fighters
Barker was close friends with Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters' recently deceased drummer, and was very shaken by his death. During the couple's shared gym hours, the two listened to Foo Fighters music to keep Hawkins close and prepare for the tribute show in London. During Everlong, the two were embraced the whole time, without finding the words. "From that moment on, that song has been a part of us," says Kardashian.

“Just Like Heaven” & “A Letter to Elise”, The Cure
The couple has often listened to these two songs by The Cure, and believes that it is the perfect telling of their love story. Furthermore, Barker has been a fan of The Cure for a long time. Kardashian also remembers listening to this song during their Valentine's Day trip to Amangiri, Utah, in 2021.

“Fly Me to the Moon”, Frank Sinatra
The couple also have in common their love of the American Songbook and jazz standards by the likes of Sinatra, Etta James and Nat King Cole, all of which appear on the playlist. It is their favourite kind of music and could not fail to feature in the documentary.

“All the Small Things”, Blink-182
Barker said he is happy that his music is being used for such intimate and special moments, even though in the past this song was disliked by the very band that created it: 'With "All the Small Things", my band at one point said, "We never want to play that song and we never want to hear it again",' he admits. "And then it comes along, and you think, 'This song is really great'. And you're proud of what you wrote."

“Tired of Being Alone”, Al Green
The drummer thinks that Al Green's lyrics represent their story well and especially how it developed over the years, being friends for a long time before they got together. "We both knew that the moment we got together would be powerful and that we wouldn't be able to control it. We got together at a time when we were tired of being alone. We were home for each other long before we were together romantically," Barker's words
