Farewell to Tina Turner: the queen of rock 'n' roll has died at age 83

Tina Turner died at her home in Kusnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland. Making the sad announcement was her spokesman.

"Tina Turner died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness. The world loses a music legend and role model." These are the words stated by Tina's spokesman.

Throughout her very long and extraordinary career, which began in 1958, Tina Turner sang many unforgettable songs such as "The Best" and "What's Love Got to Do With it".

Tina Turner has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, won 12 Grammy Awards, and in 1991 was inducted along with her ex-husband Ike Turner into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Tina Turner was a unique singer who was able to challenge and overcome all prejudices. In 1967, for example, she became the first African American artist and the first woman to appear on the cover of the well-known Rolling Stone magazine.

Audiences have always loved Tina not only for her beautiful voice, but also for her strong personality, which enabled her to become an icon and role model for so many other singers.
