As a young woman, she was a model
In the early 1980s a photographer noticed Houston while she was singing with her mother at the Carnegie Hall and, struck by her beauty, offered her a modeling job. Whitney posed for many women's magazines including Glamour, Cosmopolitan and Vogue. The singer was also one of the first African American women ever to appear on the cover of Seventeen.

A record-breaking voice
With over 220 million albums sold, Whitney is one of the most successful singers on record, as well as the most awarded female singer in the music world thanks to some 415 awards, as certified by Guinness World Record. During her career, Whitney has won 6 Grammy Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, 31 Billboard Music Awards and 22 American Music Awards.

I Will Always Love You is a cover
The original version of "I Will Always Love You", one of the most beloved songs by Whitney, was written and sung in 1974 by Dolly Parton. However, the most famous version is by Whitney: the song is part of the soundtrack of the movie "The Bodyguard" and has become the best-selling single ever by a female singer and one of the best-selling singles of all time.

His performance at  the Super Bowl XXV is reputed to be one of the best ever
Whitney Houston sang the American anthem at Super Bowl in 1991, and the performance was so moving that it was released as a charity single: the proceeds were donated to soldiers and families involved in the Gulf War.

She was involved in a lawsuit with her father
Whitney was featured in a $100 million court case with her father and manager John Houston : the father accused his daughter of not paying him what he was owed for helping her during her career. John died in 2003 and the judgment was handed down in 2004 in favor of Whitney.
